Skydat is an innovative new company, specialising in the manufacture of digital avionics, for microlight and trike enthusiasts. A couple of highly specialised engineers with experience in the research and development of electronic and radio controlled guidance systems, formed the company some time ago. SKYDAT manufacture extremely rugged, compact and sophisticated instrumentation at a very affordable price. SKYDAT GX1/GX2

The SKYDAT GX1/GX2 are avionic instruments of the newest generation.
They combine an entire range of navigation and engine management instrumentation. Most of these instruments are displayed in an analogue format(clocks and bargraphs). The ASI operates with an automatic changeover of scales (low and high). A visual common and individual alarm is provided to attract the attention of the pilot if an important engine parameter is exceeded.

Everything has been done to ease a reliable installation of the instrument. Only four wires are required to connect the instrument in a dashboard or in a pod.

Engine management module

The engine parameters are captured in a compact module ideally situated in the proximity of the engine. The different senders being directly connected onto that module without intermediate extensions /plugs. The type of engine used is selected in that module during installation.

SKYDAT SX1

This is a multiplexed array of essential digital instrumentation in one compact package, enclosed in an aerodynamic pod, as illustrated on the right. The following functions are included:

· Altimeter... Up to 24000ft (8000m), Sensitivity 10ft (5m) increments with QNH adjustment

· Variometer... 10ft/min (0,1m/s) increments, up to 2550ft/min (13m/s) climb or sink.

· Airspeed indicator... 1 mph (1kph) increments, up to 192 mph (305kph).

· RPM indicator... 10 rpm increments, 0 to 10 000 rpm. Works with both single and dual ignition systems.

· Engine hour meter... Displays and memorises running time in 1 minute intervals.

· Actual flight time indicator... Displays real flight time in 1 second intervals.

· Actual distance flown indicator... Displays actual distance flown through the air, in Kilometre or mile increments.

· Glide ratio indicator... Displays actual glide angle expressed as a ratio, in 0.1 increments.

· Battery voltage... 0,1volt increments 10 to 20 volts.

· Air temperature... -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°f).

· Relative humidity... 1% increments, 5 to 99%

· Liquid Crystal Display... excellent contrast for normal day use.
